First Friday Art Walk: Natalie Hoch
Children's book authors Natalie Hoch and Evelyn Gurr will showcase their art alongside their newest book, Mood Ocean. There might even be a special reading in store!
Natalie Hoch lives with her husband and two children near the sea outside Portland, Maine. As an artist, decorative painter, and illustrator, she finds great joy in exploring nature's patterns. Much of the inspiration for Mood Ocean comes from the beaches she’s visited throughout her life, including Martha's Vineyard, Long Island, Florida, California, and especially the Maine coast, where she now resides.
Evelyn Gurr also lives with her family on the coast of Maine. She works for an international organization, traveling the globe to protect the environment. With a deep love for nature, she once lived in a home that was perched on the world's edge, surrounded by the ocean.
808 Band
The 808 band is a 3-4 piece acoustic group with guitars , harmonica, sax, bass and drums. they play familiar radio hits from several decades!

The Clean Transportation Festival is an event that celebrates clean transportation options and the innovations that are driving the clean transit revolution. The 2024 festival will take place on Saturday, September 7 from 3–6 PM at Orange Bike Brewing in Portland, Maine. The event will include: E-bike demonstrations, Keynotes from leaders in the field, Food and drinks, Games, and Opportunities to take action.
First Friday Art Walk: Ange Muhorakeye
Born in a refugee camp in Burundi, Rwanda, Ange learned the art of basket weaving from both her nyogokuru (grandmother) and mama (mother).
Five years ago, Ange made the decision to leave Rwanda and move to the United States. At the airport in Rwanda, Ange’s mother passed to her a package of grasses with a needle and thread, and sent her off with the parting words of “Do not forget our culture.”
